Intermountain Golf Cars - Las Vegas
In 1983 Ray Homer went to work for a major golf car Distributorship in the Salt Lake Valley. While there he worked as a mechanic. As time progressed he was able to learned the fundamentals of the golf car industry. He also developed important relationships in the golf community. Then in 1985 he decided he wanted to start his own golf car company. Using his experience from the past few years he created his own golf car dealership and Ray’s Golf Cars was born. At first his newly formed company dealt only in used golf cars. (At that time there where no new golf car dealership opportunities available.) All three of the big golf car manufacturers already had dealerships in Utah. As time went on the Club Car Distributor for Utah closed their doors for business. This provided a great opportunity for Ray. After meeting with Club Car a deal was struck and Ray’s Golf Cars became the new Club Car Distributor for Utah. As a result of Rays’ hard work he was successful in operating his own golf vehicle distributorship and has presided over that company and seen it grow from a small one man operation to a thriving regional company.
Over the past 35 years that small start up company has experienced outstanding growth. As the company grew it was decided that the company would be better managed as a corporation, so in 1992 the required paper work was completed and the company’s name was changed from Ray’s Golf Cars (partnership) to Intermountain Golf Cars Inc (cooperation).
Over the years Intermountain Golf Cars has grown from a small one man operation to a thriving state wide corporation. IGC currently employs about 50 people to manage and carry out it’s daily business operations. IGC has sales and service facilities In Sandy Utah; St. George Utah; Chubbuck Idaho; Mesquite and Las Vegas, Nevada. Nearly half of the companies employee’s are trained golf car technicians. IGC operates four locations and a service van throughout the Intermountain region.
Today Ray Homer continues to guide the company as President. Drew Homer serves as Vice President and General Manager.
In 2003 IGC moved it operations and corporate center from Murray UT to Sandy UT.
From the beginning IGC has worked hard to develop expertise in the sales and service of golf cars and any related opportunities. In the early 1990’s IGC served as regional management for a national golf car fleet management company know as Golf Car Systems. This company purchased and subleased golf cars to municipal and private golf courses. There system is very comprehensive and includes an extensive maintenance and service program for maintaining a quality fleet.
